You'll have a cliffhanger through next week. I'm driving to Texas on Saturday for a week while my kids are on Spring Break. We'll be moving to the Dallas/Forth Worth area in June, so I want to have some idea of the area beforehand. Gonna get closer to this little thing.. Claire has two kids, like me, so we got some definite planning to do to make this work. Schools, doctors, dentists, et al. I will let you know how it goes on my next post, which will be Tuesday the 26th. :)

Best of luck on the trip and future plans.
Also awesome strip but she did have one thing left to lose. That cheeseburger.
Cheeseburger
I legit disappointed that there is no real life lllama bros. store for me to shop in.
I hear that Mr./Ms./Mrs./Miss./Mo./Ohio Anonymous. I bet that it’s their first and only store.
Capitalism can be cruel sometimes.
You know what.
That’s definitely going to leave a mark. Do we have any first hand idea of the businesses that are going to suffer from this scenario?
Not definitely yet. It might be a smoke grenade.
I’d have suggested a confetti grenade, but I’m guessing D52 isn’t that whimsical and a smoke grenade can still be useful.
Forget the Happy Meal Harkonnen Cannon, I want the grenade!
Smoke grenades look quite a bit different from fragmentation grenades. Granted, anything is possible in a comic like this, but since the revolver was exactly what it appeared to be, I’d wager the frag grenade is also exactly what it appears to be. Since it’s doing a fine job of scaring away the opposition, there’s no real need for smoke anyway. If it’s not a frag grenade, I think your confetti idea (or something similarly amusing) would be more likely than something as mundane as smoke.
I was really going by the fact that a smoke grenade could be made to look like a normal fragmentation grenade and that so far D52 hasn’t shown a propensity for a sense of humor, so I’d expect even something intended as a bluff to have a purpose as backup (such as escaping in the confusion, which would take REALLY dense confetti to perform as well as smoke).
Actually, a practice smoker looks EXACTLY like a frag grenade, because it IS a frag grenade, just with a smoker filling instead of explosives. They are painted white or bright blue so as not to be mistaken for a live frag grenade. Simply put, you want your practice munition to be as much like the real thing as possible.
Grenade Grande? That’s not on the O’Jacks Kiddie Box…
… oh no, not the double cheeseburger!!
She still has the other leg she could lose…
HOLY HAND GRENADE!!!
…(gets a notice of a cease and desist letter from the Monty Python studios)
I do what I wawnt..
The Number that thou shalt count is Three, and Three is the Number that thou shalt count.
Thou shalt not count to Four, neither shall you count to Two, save that thou proceedest to Three
Five is right out.
Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.”
Best line in the whole movie.
In a movie full of funny lines that is definitely up there with one of the best.
Also, (regarding the move to TX) I live right in the middle of the DFW area, Welcome to Texas, Chris!
Wow, what are the odds that two cartoonists I follow are/will be living in Dallas? (I’m right at the south end of DFW airport.) Used to be 3, but Scott Kuttz moved to Washington state. Actually, isn’t DaveB of Grrl Power also a Texan?
North Texas, it’s webcomic artist country. lol
Heh, my comic Cup-Get comes to everyone out of the Bedford/Euless, TX area, it used to be from New Hampshire up until 2015.
But you’d know more than I would as to those two comics you mentioned. There are most likely others too.
Dave B., Randy Milholland (since moved to GA for his wife’s job), Thomas Overbeck, the guy who used to do Tiki Colada, and a couple more who have ended or stopped updating their comics.
Dave B., as in Dave Barry, the humerist?
I’m guessing Grrl Power author.
Yeah, I missed that.
Hope you like Texas.
Come back to Texas!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ5c-ORfDVA
Whereabouts in the DFW area? I’ve lived all over the Metroplex. North Dallas, Richardson, Plano, Denton and Arlington before I moved to Kansas.
I’ve spent a bunch of time in D/FW for work and it is a nice area. Lots going on all around. Good luck!
Huh. She looks a little like a young Carrie Fischer. Best of luck to you all, mixed families aren’t easy (son of two), but it’s worth it for love!
Now you’ve got me wondering about the destructive capabilities of a classic fragmentation grenade scaled up to that size and if it would even worth the same way.
That is a SIX STORY TALL HAND GRENADE. I think you could give it any capability you want and no one would fuss.
Can we still call it a ‘hand’ grenade at this point?
as long as we don’t specify the size of the hand, yes. She is summoning giant things, and the last could have been described as a hand gun, rather than a revolver, if so desired.
I live there now if you have questions/need recommendations.
I like thinking Summer can only summon giant things. So she goes home and summons a recliner that destroys her house and she can’t climb up onto. Things like that.
Good luck on the Texas move and congrats on finding someone worth the risk.
She could always summon a giant house…
Agreed, but I haven’t thought enough about her dealing with said giant house to yet find that more amusing than her dealing with a giant recliner that destroyed her regular-sized-house-or-apartment.
The apartment idea is definitely funnier when including the reaction of the other tenants, one of whom obviously ended up on the cushion of the recliner that Summer can’t get to.
I’m totally seeing your life as a modern remake of the Brady Bunch.
…oh hell no. I’m taking Sam the butcher and getting RIGHT OUT OF TOWN. There’s no WAY I’m riding herd on that brood.
A CARTOONIST. Brrrrrr.
:D
I don’t blame you. They don’t even have Cindy or Bobby.
Who’s going to tattle?
Who’s going to put too much laundry detergent in the washing machine and flood the house with suds?

I live in the DFW area. Let me know if you need any help getting settled and I’ll see if I can help.
Hey! Welcome to my neckof the woods!
We live in Plano, north of Dallas, and I’ll be happy to give you some pointers and show you around if you like :)
uuhhhhmmmm…
Giant Girl Adventures is 89th with 768 votes:

What’s up short stuff?
Not a whole lot there, as you can tell :)
Wow, lots of DFW area readers. I’m in Garland should you feel the need for a good hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. I know where all the holes in all the walls are.
There are a couple of good Mexican places in the DFW area, but the further south you go the better they get. =) My in-laws live in Garland and we’ve hit a few, and my brother is in Ft Worth, and have hit a few around there. I’ve found one place in the Dallas area that I really liked, but can’t remember the name.
I feel like you JUST got the kids’ rooms done too.
One of my nephews and his wife and kids live in Benbrook, and they’ve loved it there for years. Texas is on my short list of places I intend to retire to in a few years.
Welcome to Texas, the Ft Worth area isn’t too bad, Dallas just flat out sucks, and here in Austin it would be heaven if it wasn’t for all the folks from Cali causing property values (and thus property taxes) to skyrocket). I think you’ll like it here though.
I would like to point out that eventually, she’s going to empty the Armory – or anger the owner enough that she’s going to get a dud.
I have a few friends in Texas, one living in Fort Worth at the moment. It’s a great place to live, from what I’ve seen.
Khhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaann.
He’s dead.
If comics have taught me anything – anyone is never dead ever. Unless it’s plot-centric to the person being a hero in the first place (i.e. Batman’s parents or Uncle Ben). And even then, if the reality changes, they aren’t dead.
The armory belongs to one of the Aces. And there are only two left.
So maybe someone else is maintaining it, thus Summer has the ability to continue to summon from it.
I’ll laugh if the grenade turns out to be a dud, and a piece of paper pops out saying, “Sorry, had to borrow the real deal for another reason. Will replace later.” Love – Mr. Blue Skies.”
*Blue Sky
Sorry, I’m still thrilled the organization is using a lot of old 80’s song titles for their codenames – especially ELO songs.
“IOU One Gigantic Hand Grenade. Love and kisses, Mr. Blue Sky.”
What, no love for the Talking Heads, and their contribution to this episode? https://youtu.be/cl3B_FTDKD0
Like I said, I love the fact that most of the organization and parts of this comic are all named after 80’s songs.
It’s like my dream come true.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreams_Come_True_(band)
No doubt about it
No time to think about what’s she done?
Let’s see… buildings on either side equal or just above the size of the grand grenade so a focused blast radius down that corridor of death for the shrapnel from it and everything back to that second green light in the distance is utterly deatomized with possibly the next street over buildings also toast if these ones get fully engulfed and fail to contain the brunt of the blast wave.
Possible escape routes: long sturdy side alley or sewer and hope that said radius Is limited by the infrastructure.
I would like to shop at Llama bros.
Before or after Summer’s detente?
Cant bother with all the comments, anyone mention the pin in the giant grenade?
Whhhhhhhhhhhhat about it?
It’s aluminum, isn’t it? Besides, according to preceding events, Summer has to pantomime the actions of arming and utilizing the weapon.
I think the bottom left is the final panel in the comic, and she’s doing exactly that. But the countdown to KABLOOEY doesn’t actually start until the lever flips.
I need your current put up. It will be awesome to work out individuals teach you for sayings on the coronary heart combined with clearness regarding it imperative question might readily witnessed.
I’m ready to witness that Engrish is not your primarily witnessed
Cool, you’re moving a hour or so drive from where I live!
I feel the best move here, would’ve been to just shoot her.
The young lady in the phone is Fine. It’s Real Sweet That you found each other. Good luck .

HA HA A HAA HA HA.
you suck at the comments
But, is that what Crystal said to do? Is that what she wants?
Is there a doubt about it,
… that you’re a bot?
In order to drive up traffic to the site during the interim of the artist’s sabbatical, we should start a few threads based off of some movies that have been referenced by the artist as well as some of the Uber fans.
Also, we need a reason to get people to vote each day.
I wouldn’t worry too much. If he’s back in and swinging when he says, we’ll be all right. It’s almost the end of the month, after all, and THAT’S when we’ll be needing fresh updates most to get us back up.
Dude, it’s only 2/3 of the month. It’s March. Did you forget to wind your watch?
Don’t think so. He’ll be out the rest of this week and back to normal on the 26th. Which means he should be publishing April 2, which means we’ll get at least most of the benefit of being in normal operations on the first part of April. The hit we’ll likely take for this week should be minor, even with no comments section shenanigans trying to keep readership up.
I can see Steve having this giant calendar with all these red circles and lines and words.
He’s the Calendar Conspiracy Tracking Man.
You underestimate how long I have been following this comic strip, sir. I’ve learned a few things. :D
Run for your lives. He’s lurned somting! Hyde da womans, grab yet beeer an get in yur peeckups and git outta dodge.
No, it’s ok, he lives near Bell’s brewery as I recall, so he’s good on beer.
Steve – Oberon was interesting, by the way, but I prefer their double cream stout.
Mr. Blue–I don’t NEED your steenking badgers!
TOG–Perfectly rational. Good to try it, though; it’s kind of how you tell it’s springtime in Michigan. Oberon Day is actually tomorrow this year.
Have you ever seen a naked badger running down the street and lived to tell the tale?
Because Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I, in fact, saw a display of Oberon in the grocery store today when I stopped on my way home from work here in Ohio. So the distributor is speedy I guess.
TOG–They take Oberon Day very seriously. There are literal parties for it in Michigan. Not surprised to hear you had it in Ohio on Oberon Day.
Oberon Day sounds like a good thing to take seriously.
Boo.
Hiss.
Shenanigans.
Well, at least OUR shenanigans are cheeky and fun.
True, as well as bereft of mozzarella sticks.
Is that what you kids call it these days? “Cheeky fun”?
Better than what Farva said to that minivan driver.
Well, when the comic, or theteafter, the vote per hour was a decent 6. Last tally put us around a 4. Bear in mind that is an accumulated total of hours averaged since the start of the month.
Well he’d better remind himself. TED, DON’T FORGET TO WIND YOUR WATCH!
Put them in the Iron Maiden
You dress in the manner of a male prostitute.
You son of a submariner!
Your penmanship is atrocious!
(please forgive me for bribing colleges to get my kid in!)
Okay. OKay, let’s do this. You’re a very furious man, do you understand that?
Someone saw a cockroach up on twelve.
She picked herself the perfect running mate – King Westley – the pill of the century! What she needs is a guy that’d take a sock at her once a day, whether it’s coming to her or not. If you had half the brains you’re supposed to have, you’d done it yourself, long ago.
Check again…are you quite sure you’re in the right place?
Cutting through and bypassing all this pop-culture crap (and this Who’s-On-First irrelevance):
Chris: Best of luck, and all the best, to you and Claire both! And to your kid(s), and hers!
Congratulations!
And to each and every SS fan/reader: The loudest shoutout possible! I love and respect ALL of you 1,000%!
He who attempts to cut through the pop culture crap will find the pop culture crap cutting through him.
That’s cool! Cut away!
In fact, go ahead right now!
I said I love and respect ALL of you readers/fans (including you, Sphinx [did you take that name from the “Mystery Men” character? Great movie]), and I meant it!
Actually, I already DID cut through it: I genuinely sent Chris and Claire and all their kids one singe, simple message: Best of luck!
And best to all SS fans/readers!
I hope you’re well, Sphinx!
I meant to say single, not singe.
… Aannnd someone named RuRu (I don’t know who that is; I checked the thread, and I don’t see that name anywhere on it) just invited me to download and join a gaming-chatroom app called Discord. If you’re there, RuRu (if you get this): no, thank you. I don’t know a huge amount about video games, nor am I much interested in them. I like poetry.
While I’ve never joined the room, there is a Discord room for Shotgun Shuffle. If you scroll to the bottom of the page & wait a while you’ll see an animated McFatFat peeking through at the bottom right where the link is (I mean you can find it when he’s not visible there too).
Possibly this was what someone was trying to send you since you appeared to be active here for a few hours.
TOG!
Have you forgotten your place?
You spoke to the man of of turn.
Where is the basket from the welcoming committee?
…oh. Oh no. Oh no no NO, not this! Not this again! I stopped drinking! I stopped teasing dogs! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME???
Steady there, intern. Get it together. There’s a man here for his welcome basket. We must get him the welcome basket!
Okay. Fine. What’s left? What can we actually give?
Ah! Okay! Here we go.
Welcome to the Shotgun Shuffle comments section! It’s our little practice to give all newcomers a welcome basket full of exciting treats to make them feel more welcome around here! You never know what you’re going to get!
This time around…we’ve got…um…three sealed Mason jars of High-Test Premium Unleaded from Urine Fer Sale, and an official Danny Fleetwood Prosthetic Eyebrow Starter Kit! Comes with two sheets of cardboard, four colors of magic marker, and a pair of scissors!
Thanks for joining the Shotgun Shuffle comments section, where our shenanigans only occasionally involve cheese!
I can add in the grease from two, yes two of the restaurants featured on Gordon Ramsay’s 24 hours to Hell and back. And it’s even got some of the food he’s thrown about as well.
I am remembering my place as archivist. See the results of:
https://www.google.com/search?q=%27Jethro+McClellan%27+site:shotgunshuffle.com
We forgot about the welcoming basket back in 2016. I was ashamed of the oversight, but you’re right and we should make it up.
So I’ve been saving this one, but I suppose I’ll have to pitch in this beer bottle from Tired Guy’s 21st birthday which has miraculously accumulated enough dust that filling it with water has a chance of being fermentable again.
Yes, that was what I saw, moving into view
from
right
to
left,
and out of view
from
left
to
right.
Thank you, That one guy!
Yes, I was active here for a few hours.
Have you joined other interesting rooms?
Nah, I’m not much one for chatting. I’ve peeked into a Discord room now and then when it had some info I needed but I’ve generally not used it much. I’m not really a fan of running JavaScript in my browser when I can help it.
As for mR. Blue, it was a tradition I started which came from a comment at work about FedExing donuts to a remote person in a meeting. With the welcome baskets here we try to come up with creative things that are bizzare and seem like it’s just vaguely possible that from a certain point of view they might seem well meaning. So it’s all in good fun and tradition that I started and don’t always remember.
Thank
you,
mR. Blue
,
but don’t worry about it. TOG’s fine. Golden, even (as Snagglepuss would say).
… I don’t need a basket from the welcoming committee. Just keep those positive vibes, and comments, flowing. Speaking of comments: I believe that what Chris needs, more than restaurant recommendations, is practical suggestions. He mentioned, IIRC, schools and doctors. Anyone? Ferris? Anyone?
Good fun? Tradition? Okay, I’m in! I’ll receive gratefully.
Thank you:
– Steve (though I’ll take a pass on ever actually using the Starter Kit — or, come to think of it, any of the Mason jars [but I appreciate the thought]);
– TOG, for the explanation, for the beer bottle, and for remembering me after three years;
and
-mR. Blue, for the grease, and the food.
TOG: I’ve heard of JavaScript, but I’m not very computer-savvy.
Sphinx (and Shoveler):
– Mystery Men was a GREAT movie! Maybe someday I’ll actually check out the comic!
– I don’t TRULY believe pop culture is crap. Shall/can we discuss it further?
Welcome to Dallas! I hope to see you with a table on the con scene here.
I hope you’re well, Chris! And I hope you got as much as possible (schools, doctors, etc.) squared away! (Restaurants and con scenes aside.)
Silly Rusche – April 20th doesn’t fall on a Tuesday!
